Fields of Gold 15" x 19" Pastel on Paper I was attracted to this image because of the unique perspective and sense of vast distance between the foreground and the background. It is a nature scene lacking in people, but the evidence of human contact with the land is the strongest feature. This painting was done after a reference photo used with permission by a fellow artist. I chose it because not only is it a peaceful and serene image of a pastoral lifestyle, but also because it vividly reminded me of many of the beautiful places that I saw during my travels in England and France.
