Metaphysical Hunger

The yearning to return to a simpler, purer way of life is as difficult as physical hunger. The only difference is that it's not a hunger of the stomach, but of the mind and soul. image size: 10.5 x 14.5" (27 x 37cm) Corporate Collection) © 2000, Michael Cook

Michael, You do wonderful work. I must say that your landscapes are my favorite! Esp. the ones of the country.

Nice piece, Michael, reminds me of a farm in Cape Breton which I intent to paint sometime. Every time I go past it I stop and take notes and sketches and photographs but still haven't found just the right composition. Thanks for doing this one!

Artist Reply: Thanks, David. I'd say it's best just to steam ahead... Make the sketches, take the photos, but then go out there with your materials one day and just paint it! You might be surprised at what spontaneity reveals!

The composition is very well done, great work. I can relate to the coment that accompanies this work, and am thankful that such a hunger In me is feed as i head to the stables or garden daily. The subtle images in this peice speak so to the yearning you mentioned. Thanks for shareing this.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Deborah, and everyone else, for the nice comments. It would seem that you (and Corry) have the right idea! Enjoy your respective lives, and know that if we lose our connection to nature, we lose our humanity as well. Those of us who live in urban areas just have to try harder, observe more intently to see more, and allow those wondrous forces to be recognized and appreciated.
