Sorrow

The faceless woman clutching her clothing. The sorrowful woman clenching the ground. The cross shadowing them - their salvation is gone. Death was before them on a tree. The resurrection was far from their thoughts. Faceless because of the emptyness the mother felt. Her son had died. He was the fulfillment of God's grace - now gone. No justice. Did she believe in the promise?

Wow, this painting stirred something deep inside of me. I had goosebumps and a strong sense of sadness. There are no words to express how I feel about this painting. Wonderful doesn't even come close!
