I wouldn't have picked this out as your painting right away, Michael. Somehow, you've given the dreamy mood a different description. Could be because the foreground is hard to describe, yet solid. I LOVE the sky! Your palette choices are wonderful and it's so descriptive hanging over that misty shore.
Nice use of colors that, in less skilled hands, might tend to get muddy. These don't! Very pleasing.
Artist Reply: Thank you, Phil. When I think about it, these actually ARE essentially mud-flats, so maybe if they don't look muddy, I've missed the mark! :) But I do appreciate your comment... Maybe there's "rich" mud--and dull mud... I definitely have painted "richer mud" than this! I think the challenge for me is more in trying to avoid garish colors in skies like this. Hence, the somewhat subdued palette of the whole thing. (BTW, are you related to Paris? Or Conrad? :)

Love the atmospheric look of this wonderful landscape, & the mastery of these earthy tones, painted sensitively. Somewhat moody... yet peaceful.Phil Hilton 02 Oct 2006
