Mieks Amrea-Scratchboard Experiment

A male Mieks Amrea sporting the feathered crest that is grown during the mating season.

This was a bit of an experiment. I haven't worked with scratchboard in years and had a couple of small panels laying around. I used the basic tool to do the Amrea and sandpaper to rough in the abstract background. I wanted to add color and tried using Watercolor, bad mistake, too much residue and haze. I rinsed off the watercolor and tried markers. Tada! It worked pretty well, though the tips of the markers pick up some black form the board, they don't leave the haze the watercolors did.

The "detail shot" is how the watercolor appeared.
