As a child I was raised in a small town in Alaska called Ketchikan. First built on the waterfront, part of its downtown area looked somewhat like this scene, with its shops and houses on the waterfront. Many of the businesses were burned down in the mid-ninteen fiftees, but I'll always remember them in this painting dedicated to that memory.
