Shortly before the birth of my grand daughter, I photographed my daughter in a reflective mood, and thought of the following quote by Eric Fromm regarding Motherhood: "The mother-child relationship is paradoxical and, in a sense, tragic. It requires the most intense love on the mother's side, yet this very love must help the child grow away from the mother, in order to become fully independent."
