I got this tray from a local antiques and art gallery, where I have a regular show of my work, it was in two halves, handles missing and the siver gallery rail was bent and black, I made two new wooden handles for it, very carefully straightend the gallery rails, polished it all up restoring it to it's former Glory., the wood is oak and would look like this tray has gone along way, because it has a large screw head underneath that has canada on it! Anyway I finnaly decided to lightly carve into it, hope you like the results?

Fascinating! very attractive and intricate piece of work. The husband of a friend produces and exhibits carvings in many different woods, also in a wide variety of stone: last year he gave a demonstration at the art club where I am a member; for the first time I really understood the planning and pre-working that takes place before even touching the material with a blade: he carved a perfect complete rose bloom that evening and made me appreciate as never before the skill and delicacy of touch required for this art. Thank you for this delightful reminder. :) Gwen.MH Heintz 11 May 2007
