st.agnes tin mine

the view west looking down on one of cornwalls derelict tin and copper mine engine houses which pumped the water from the shafts which extended far out under the sea. this particular engine house is that of 'wheal coates mine' which was opened in 1872 and stands 200ft above the sea. it mined mainly tin until 1914 when it finally shut down. in the summer, great swathes of colourful gorse and heather run down the slopes of the cliffs....(this image is protected by worldwide copyright. it is wholly the property of pixagraph publishing uk and its use is strictly licensed. pixagraph publishing vigorously pursues any party who reproduces in whole or part any such image or in any way violates said copyrights. permission to use any image may be granted subject to application to www.pixagraph.com)
