Kanawha State Forest

The painting here is a local landscape. It is oil on primed illustration board. The board was mounted to a strong backing so it wouldn't warp. The size is about 20 x 32 & 7/16". The size is a golden rectangle. Other than creating the painting on a golden rectangle, there is only a very simple geometry holding the composition together, and most of that was intuitive. I played with the lighting and design so it would lead your eye up the creek and to the right. I also experimented with color quite a bit in this one. I may go ahead and submit this painting to the Artist's Magazine competition. There are some cool prizes there.
