What Happened to the Blue Sky??

Believe it or not...this is the second half of the Naches Loop hike from last weekend. A quick geography lesson...the state of Washington, as well as Oregon, is split down the middle by the Cascade Mountain Range. The clouds from the Pacific Ocean stack up against the mountains and leave lots of moisture on the west side. The result is lush green forests. Eastern Washington is much drier. This hike is located on the top of Chinook Pass. It can be socked in on our side and as you pass the crest, the clouds often are replaced with blue skies. On this day the east side of the loop was almost clear. The west side was cool and misty....and the mountain totally hidden. Still a great hike!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! :)
