Hummingbird Delight

One of my neighbors is this beautiful hummingbird that loves to dive bomb me if too close to the feeders I have out. He puts up with only becuase I keep them filled. I painted him with Autumn colors in the background. This is a digitally painted work, I used my Wacom graphics tablet & wireless stylus pen and Corel's Painter X software. This is not a photo manipulated work.

perfect painting.... awesome

Artist Reply: Thanks Blue Doll! I love painting the birds, especially hummingbirds. I have some more I am planning out and have started. I have the birds, and the background down, but need to decide what else to put in thecomposition. I want to use some flowers this time. I get the shots from them flying around the feeders, but don't want to paint feeders.

Terry you are so good at this!

Artist Reply: Thanks Ginia! Still learning as I go, but always trying to learn something new. THis one has such little feather strokes to use, but I managed topaint it in a few days. I will be working on more turkeys, Stellar Blue Jays, and some chickadees this month. The Jays are stunning species to watch, I'm working on some photos of them to post up soon.

Terry, I know I couldn't do without my Wacom and you have made such great use of yours and create such masterful pieces from your tools and hands. Always brilliant and each exceeding the prior, in absolute brilliance. Michael

Artist Reply: Thank you Miguel! THese are such blessings to be able to watch. They are such amazing birds and humorous. Gifts to greet me everyday, to remind me of God's many gifts of life. Still learning here, and hope to be able to continue to grow in faith and art skills.

Beautiful job, Terry! I have attempted to photograph hummingbirds but have given up for now. Very challenging!

Artist Reply: THanks John. I am getting a few photos of them to use for painting references. I have a auto fast shutter setting on the camera that seems to be able to get some of the shots well enough. Still, the wings are most often blurred. I'm sorting the photos to post some of the best up, and pick some for compositions for more paintings.

Funny about the dive bombing, Terry! What a nerve, eh? I think this is so creative, and what you have done makes it a really grand piece!

Artist Reply: Thanks Carliss! They can dive bomb me all day as long as I get to watch them. I had to spread out feeders around the house so they don't fight each other. There are 3 species around here. One makes great popping noises when defending its territory, motorized like. They go so fast, I can't tell which is doing it yet.
