David sang those words thousands of years ago to celebrate the blessings with which God had graced Israel. Despite the turbulence that marked his life and times–external enemies, betrayal by his son, and even the unpleasant consequences of his own mistakes–David understood the importance of simple gratitude to God. David’s psalm paints an inspiring picture of a God who is in control of all things, a God of such power and generosity that none can help but acknowledge His greatness.
