The Proud Emu

This illustration was prepared as one of a series of works for the book explaining how the emu became a dull coloured, flightless bird. The emu once was a colourful somewhat self absorbed bird before being challenged by the kookaburra in a race to the sun. This work shows the emu prior to the race filled with self adoration.

I love the rich color. It makes the bird look so pretty and proud. Great posture, too.
