Homage to the Virginia Tech Martyrs (2008)

A deranged student killed 31 of his fellow students at Virginia Tech. By painting all the students for whom I had pictures, I rendered them homage as well as pondered what their lives might have been. The common denominator to all the pictures were the smiling faces, so full of life and promise. That one unstable student could obtain a weapon and use it so freely is a sad commentary on our country. The victims are individual, but the assassin is faceless.

Outstanding work, David.. POWERFUL Work, to convey your important message. I remember this tragic event... luckily there was there one BRAVE professor, who saved some of his student's life.

Frightening and powerful image, David. You do a great job communicating your emotions and ideas through color, form, and composition. There is a lot to say about this piece, but It is so successful that I am repulsed by it and must leave this page immediately.
