I love these little fellas While they will eat many flying insects, They prefer mosquitos. It is said they can eat there own weight in mosquitos every day. If you see them hanging around a picnic this is why. The people draw the mosquitos and the dragon flies have a feast. I saw a video of one catching one and the dragonfly catches the mosquito in what look like it has hands in front that grasp it while it bites the head off. I can't think of another happier thing an insect can do. The First stage of the dragon fly lives under water and they eat the same way just not all mosquito larva. They are fears hunters.

Artist Reply: HI Cray, how very interesting, I didn't know any of that information. Thanks for sharing.
