Williamsburg, Virginia USA, acrylic on cardboard, 20" x 12" abstract, robed, faceless, vague figure, bright colors and lighting but depressing feeling; figure suppress and depressed. Bright, slanted divides darker top space from brighter bottom.
Bruce, this is an awesome work with meaning that means a lot to me. I read that you used to climb mountains. I wish you peaks of joy in all that you do, even if you cannot climb mountains anymore. This is outstanding, as always with your art.
What I like the most is the very small figure, the way she/he is surrounded by all these big threatening shapes. And it looks like the shapes belong together with their happy colours, while the figure is standing in an empty space not connected to anything. Still the dark shade looks like two hands that are holding the figure, there's always comfort.
Artist Reply: What a friend you are, Anneke! That's because you almost always see MY art My way! : ) It really amazes me. I would sign on to what you wrote above any day as an accurate and adequate treatment of the painting, its meaning and methods. Thank you. Peace, etc., Bruce
