Viewing the Pacific Ocean for the first time with Molly, our red and white Irish Setter was an amazing experience. She was entranced by the proximity of the waves splashing on her face. She did not move a muscle and like the majority of my Irish and English Setters, I knew that not only was the sea a magical place for her, but I am also mesmerized by the rhythm and motion of the sea. Malibu is very special and now that the Summer crowds have left, I hope to spend as many days as possible sharing our love of one of nature’s amazing wonders. Sharing the unspoken love of the sea with my Setters who ate fish in the ocean waters of Ireland and England centuries ago is a “Gift from the Sea,” a compelling and poetic book by Anne Morrow Lindbergh now published for its 50th edition with a touching introduction by Reeve Lindbergh, the daughter of Anne and her late husband, the famous and inspirational pilot Charles Lindbergh who was the first to fly the transatlantic flight solo from New York to Paris.
