People cold him the "farmers"- tram. Once electricity became general, the little country-steamers were replaced by trams working on electricity. On the country-side these vehicles not only transported people but also tug goods vans. The image shows a tram like they ran in our region about a hundred years ago. It is remarkable that, as illumination, he still uses a kerosene lantern instead of an electric lamp ! The vehicle had no doors, just a railing, and to ascend the stairs you had to be a good climber. They never heard of security in those days. Moreover the comfort of the passengers was very brief, I can't imaging a trip on cold winter day with those open doors. An other remarkable fact is that the tram-company obvious is very attached at their colours, till today one can see trams in Brussels painted in the same vanilla-yellow with sky-blue striping.
