The first steamer I saw as a kid but also the last several years later. I happened to see a link on internet leading to this kind of engines, a standard tender-engine with three axles, builded by Les Ateliers de la Meuse in Liège. They took care of the transportation of goods along the channel and the extensive rail-network between Grimbergen and the goods station of Brussels. I made the watercolor showing the loc passing in front of the channel-bridge in Vilvoorde, crossing the busy main road between Malines and Alost. In the middle of the sixties they were replaced by diesels and since the eighties the railway has disappeared as well as the industries. Images size: 260 x 360 mm

Nice engine. Locomotive technology really took off from the 1840's onward. I'm working on the old Norris engine that's at the BO museum in Bal'more... & used to work the Alegheny Portage RR in PA. I'll post it if I ever get it finished.Ron Bedsole 20 Jun 2018
