I like the selectivity of your compositions and simple powerful shapes. You bring rocks to life in seascapes with surprising colour. This image has an iconic serene restfulness. The anonymity of the girl is Vermeer-like as is the the overall geometry except the rectangle of shadow underfoot. She stands on one of the two rectangles. A space there is necessary, but it lacks the life that is in the rest of a fine painting.
Artist Reply: I spotted this woman on a busy street corner but chose to place her in a quiet setting because of the riotous color of her paper flowers. So - the background is a figment of my imagination. The dark and quiet floor was deliberate. I felt that she needed a solid anchor to keep her from 'floating away'!
Betty, I admire your work very much, especialy wher you leave the photo I go one step more. Phororealistic work is very good too, to envy!, but I like the work where you add 'somtething' in the image woth brush or composition. MIeke
What a giant bundle of lovely flowers she is carring... I bet they smell heavenly! Love your work with shadow and light, and the skin tones are perfect! Fabulous oil painting Betty, wonderful warm sunny day in Mexico... :o)
