The romantic city of Florence in Tuscany is the inspiration for this painting. Here the city is bathed in a low warm sunlight. I painted the city in a rustic impressionist style using mostly palette knife and contrasted that with wet brushwork in the sky. I wanted to convey a feeling of romance and mystery while leaving it somewhat incomplete. My focus was mostly on the emotion and the experience of being in the presence of this alluring city of Florence. I thought about how many visitors have gazed across the beautiful Tuscan scenery and what dreams and emotions were stirred?
