TwoLips

My first actual 'freeform' creation using colored pencils, hence the 'childlike' hand. I'm so used to using 'constructs' in my art, that letting go is as much of a challenge as my aim for perfection. Absolute perfection is unattainable and coming to grips with that can sometimes cause a psyche meltdown. I've been gifted five new drawing books from my artist father so I can learn....How To Let Go. This piece is Me learning about 'burnishers', 'blenders' and other pencil tools, I think it will make a nice 'progression' start...a year from now, let's see how my hand does. Colored pencil on paper, 11x14.

I think your dad wants you to experience those 'happy accidents' that make drawing, painting, etc., a bit more of a voyage of discovery. You do not want to be one of those adults who are happy with a coloring book of prefab images, Sara. And from this example, I see you let slip a bit of your sensual side. Nice feel to this. :)

Artist Reply: Can you feel me blushing? lol, first off, I wish I could share my dad's art so you could see his style, it's truly remarkable! Second, it's funny how I'm still inclined to the abstract, and my images are subconsciously created, I certainly did Not set out to make this in O' Keefe style, but you're absolutely correct, when I was finishing it, the thought occurred to me it did kinda look...feminine...and then the name TwoLips, I was just trying to put a play on Tulips, and again, subconsciously or maybe not, it embodied the image perfectly :D does that make sense?
