The mythical and feared Wendigo of Native American folklore. Many different interpretations of the beast have been made. There are multiple spellings and pronunciations of the name (including Wintigo, Windigo, etc.). The Wendigo stalks the north woods area of the United States and Canada, with a literally unquenchable taste for human flesh, meaning that the more it eats, the hungrier it gets, which explains it's often emaciated state. Despite this, the Wendigo posesses immense strength, and has the ability to camoflauge itself among the trees due to it's unusually skinny and tall demeanor, as well as being seemingly invulnerable to blades and some standard small arms fire due to it's skin being almost completely frozen solid. It is also said to be able to possess any escaped prey and cause them to carry out unspeakable acts of violence. Although no concrete proof of the Wendigo exists, there have been numerous instances that some link to the Wendigo, including the infamous story of a Cree Indian named Swift Runner which occured in the late 1800's in what is now Alberta, Canada, as well as the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 crash in the Andes Mountains in 1972. Also, due to having once been human itself, it can expertly imitate humans, drawing them out of shelter to investigate and into the dark and snowy forest, into the grasp of the Wendigo.
