La Catrina has become the iconic symbol for Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, celebrated in Mexico and other Latin American countries. On those days the spirits of loved ones come to visit attracted by the colors and scents of Marigolds, to the Ofrendas/Shrines set up by friends and family honoring them with photos, candles, music and favorite foods.
