Ive done cowboy hats and know how hard it is to get the bends right, yours blows mine away great job ! was it hard to finish maple? I heard you have to use a different stain etc.
Artist Reply: No stain used, just natural wood color,with a Deft laquer finish. Maple is a good hard wood it cuts nicely very little sanding at the end.

Artist Reply: sorry for the late reply, the hat is even thickness all the way around. I have too use special large size calipers to guage it. it weighed about 80 lbs at the start now less thatn 10 oz's. You can actually wear it .
