This creates such a powerful mood, an overwhelming calm mixed with a few other emotions. This might be one of my favorite pieces ever.

I don't know how you do it Michael - I can't even pick up a pastel without breaking it and going ick, ick, ick at the way it feels - though I do understand that there are pastel pencils, but I always press too hard and break 'em off and next thing you know they're sharpened down to nubs - good job I found the Mac all those years ago, eh? Great Image and the lighting is fanblinkingtastical!!! :0)

It's an oddly compelling choice of subject. Quite intriguing and nicely done!

Artist Reply: Thank you, Betty. It is somewhat peculiar, given that it could have been presented more aesthetically I suppose, but I found it compelling, as a scene, just the way it looked. But if you find this one "oddly compelling" you should see "American Gothic #6. Maybe that one is just "odd." (I don't think that's posted here, but can be found on my website, at Artinsight.com)

This is wonderful... just amazing pastel work! Beautiful lighting - amazing.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Christina. I just looked at your cat paintings, and am very, very impressed with your technique and abilities!

Beautiful work, Michael! Great colors and lighting! Great atmosphere!

Artist Reply: Thank you, Anne. The atmosphere and lighting is what this one is all about. Well, that, and the existential journey (one of many) across America.
