Are We Sick of it Yet?

I put this up before and took it down because an AW member's son had just gone to Iraq. But it's the only way I can express how I feel about this war and the loss of precious lives...

War is always ugly, as is slavery, despots, dictators and many other "legal" activities. All lead to a destruction of the mind and often the will. It is sad that we say we love God yet do not follow his teachings. I believe when he said love thy neighbor as thyself he really meant it. I believe when he said do not kill, he meant it. I believe when he said do unto others as you would have them co unto you..he meant it. I believe him when he said turn the other cheek. I believe him when he said 'you are your brother's keeper'. War, like suicide, is a long term solution for a short term problem. De we defend ourselves, family and country. Yes, but the key word here is defend...not agressive action on what someone might do in the future...but defend. Do we protect and secure, of course. The easiest way to get rid of an enemy is to make him a friend. I guess we haven't learned that yet. We continue as a society to agressive sue one another, we have murders, rapes, and gang wars, drugs, immodest clothing, public bad language, arenas of fighting where rules are flagrantly idnored, divorce and illigitimacy is common, freely purchased alcohol and and open admission of one's personal sex life. What are we teaching the rising generation? It makes you wonder sometime why God hasn't given up on us....Carl Sandburg said that a baby is God's assurance that the world should go on. It takes a village to raise a child...the kind of village we are makes a difference in tomorrow's world. I don't want war in the village...I really don't think any right thinking individual does. I worry about the villages the rest of the world's children are being raised in.

i don't think anyone could have said it better! damn!!! i was sick of it before it started and saw the writing on the wall. some people(and presidents) never learn. what a nasty, vile price to pay for all the insane motivaters of war. curious- are any of his(bush) family currently in the military and if so are they on the front line?(being canadian i can distance myself from bush so i don't get all the details that would surely have me in a deep seated depession but we are being pulled deeper into his quagmire of hell as well so it gets harder to tune out all the time. my son turns 18 next year and i've told him since he was small that if he were to ever enlist i'd kill him, quickly and painlessly, before anyone else had the opportunity to- i pray the message's sunk in)i pray for sanity to prevail and bring them home.

Artist Reply: I appreciate your comment very much, Sheila. Bush gets to see his daughter get married--every parents dream, but unfortunately so many aren't able to see their sons or daughters get married because of this war...
