This is where the Panama Canal and Canal Zone were administratively run. The Governor's office was here and the Comptroller's Office. It's where my father and my uncle, who was 25 years older than my dad, and my cousin (same age as my dad) worked. Also it is where I had my first job as a student assistant in the Accounting Division in the summers. Because there was no private enterprise on the Panama Canal Zone, the United States Government created jobs for students in the summers. I was lucky to secure one of those jobs. Everything on the Panama Canal Zone was owned and run by the U.S. Government. They mowed all the yards, etc., thus no jobs of that nature for teenagers. Hope that you enjoy.
