Very young--a preschooler. My drawing skills were advanced for my age. I knew who Leonardo di Vinci was before I went to school. Before I was 5 years old, and I knew I wanted to become an artist and that I was one already.

I cannot remember not wanting to draw, color, or paint. It always came without any hard work on my part which is why I did not go into art as a profession. Brought up in a working class family I was taught only hard work is viable, forget ability or natural talent. You will only starve in the city looking for hand outs. Thanks Dad...

I suppose you could say I realized this, when I actually painted the walls with spaghetti,[at three years old]. I was so proud of my work!!!! Til this day, "anything goes, and I mean anything!"

I was four when I did the drawing "Danger Road". It was of a family of four driving over a cliff after ignore all warning signs (I grew up abused), everyone screaming, one decapitated, two bloody from hitting themselves off the windows/glass.

Instead of being sent to a psychologist for this one, I got first place in the kindergarten art show. LOL!

I had (have) this book that details stuff K-12 with pockets for photos, awards, report cards and such. The only year I didn't answer "artist" for "What do you want to be when you grow up?" was in fifth grade, when I answered "nurse".

Very young age, I have always been artistic. Started off as a calligrapher.

I would like to say I have never really considered myself an artist as I think there are so many excellent artists I couldn't possibly compare myself to who I admire. My husband insists that I should call myself an artist as there are many who cannot do art at all, so thinking in that way I would say I have always enjoyed creating artistically.
