You should buy the Graphic Artist Guild Handbook for pricing and etichical guidelines, it can be found at borders, or barnsand nobel, or off the Graphic artst guild site. This book will give you prices. The pricing really depends on what the target market is, and how many copies are going to be reporduced, i have to book if you would like to give me more details i can look for you

I write children's books and usually when you hire a illustrater you write out a contract before hand and some will charge a flat fee for each peice and or a percentage of the royalties. Anytime you have another person's work associated with your work the publisher usually has them sign a contract also. As for pricing only you and the author/publisher can decide on what it is worth. It depends alot on the number of them, how important they are to the story, what mediums you use and who keeps the originals. I hope this helped and not just made things more confusing.
