Member Login Solutions

If you are having problems logging in, or staying logged in, please read the following message:

1) FORGOT PASSWORD

If you can't remember your login/password or our site says that the login information you try is wrong, you can have your login information e-mailed to you. Simply click on the MEMBERS AREA button at the top of the page and type in your e-mail address in the FORGOT PASSWORD box and we will e-mail you your login information. If you get a message that your e-mail address can't be found, contact us via e-mail with your username or ArtID and we can look it up for you.

2) ARTWANTED.COM AUTHENTICATION METHODS

Our website uses two methods of authentication to know what account you are logged into. In the members area, we use a PASSCODE that is passed to each page as you move throughout the members area. On other areas of the website (such as the message boards and voting pages), we use 'cookies' to track your login information, because it's not possible to track your passcode as you move through the entire website. If you can use the members area just fine, but have login problems on the message boards or voting, then you have a cookie problem.

3) EXPLANATION OF COOKIES

A cookie is a tiny text file that is saved to your hard drive after you login that contains your account information. We look for this cookie file when authentication is needed and if it's not there, then our site assumes you have not logged in or you are not a member. Your web browser has different settings to allow or reject websites from saving cookies on your hard drive. If your setting are too strict, then we are not able to save your cookie login and on various parts of the website you will be told to login, even though you already have done so. You must have cookies enabled to access many of the member functions on our website. If you have any anti-spyware programs that remove cookies or block them, you will need to disable this feature for ArtWanted.com.

4) ADJUSTING YOUR COOKIE SETTINGS

You can get to these settings in your web browser by going to TOOLS...INTERNET OPTIONS and then clicking on the PRIVACY tab. The privacy slide bar should be set to MEDIUM or lower. If this is not the case, please change the slider bar to a lower setting. After you do this, click OK and try logging in again. This should fix your problem, but if you still can't stay logged in, go to the next step.

5) DELETING YOUR COOKIES

Sometimes it's necessary to flush out ALL of your website cookies for a website to be able to write/save a new cookie. To delete your cookies, go to TOOLS...INTERNET OPTIONS in your web browser and click on the DELETE COOKIES button, which is found on the GENERAL tab in the TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES section. Once you have done this, go back to ArtWanted.com and login again. We have found that by deleting your cookies, it fixes 99% of the login problems people have with our website.

6) STILL CAN'T LOGIN?

If you have done everything explained above and still can't stay logged in, then we still would like to help you. Go to: http://www.artwanted.com/showvars.cfm and copy and paste the contents of that page into an e-mail to ArtWanted.com. This page contains technical information about your computer and settings that we can use to troubleshoot the problem you have logging in.

7) LOGGING OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT

By default, ArtWanted.com will remember who you are, so the next time you come back to our site, you don't need to login again. However, sometimes you are on a public computer or need to log out of your account. We have a button in your members area that will log you out of our website and delete the cookie files that remember who you are. Simply click on the LOG OUT button at the bottom of the member options page and this will log you out of your account. You can log back into your account, by clicking on the MEMBERS AREA button on our site and typing in your account information.

8) SUMMARY

We hope that this login information has been valuable to you. If you have any additional questions or comments, please contact us at [email protected] - Thanks.
