A warm Yorkshire Artist's welcome to my Mini Gallery collection of Affordable Fine Art Paintings and Oil Sketches. Featuring Paintings of Yorkshire, Norfolk and Cornwall. My paintings cover a range of popular subject matter, such as you would expect to find in Fine Art Landscapes. Shoreline, waves, beaches, skies, sunsets, fields, animals, boats, trees, figures, countryside and coastal scenes etc. Apart from the rare foray into Gouache painting, you will find the majority of my artworks are Original Paintings in Oil, painted on wood panels or canvas boards, my preferred choice of mediums. Most of my paintings can be loosely termed as Traditional Art, which can be interpreted in different ways by some people, I suppose. As can 'conceptual' or 'abstract' art. Other forms of expression I've been known to embrace on occasions. My 'technique', for want of a better word, has developed out of an urgency to capture the transient effects of light and atmosphere on the British landscape and seascape. I find the rural and coastal regions of North Yorkshire, North Norfolk and West Cornwall exceptionally inspirational. Having said that, I am not averse to dabbling with a still-life composition from time to time. I prefer painting in mid to late afternoons. The hues are warmer and tonal values are hightened by the lower sunlight, creating longer, more defined shadows on the subjects and within the landscape. Although, I am not averse to dabbling with a still-life composition from time to time. Without going into boring detail about my artistic education and subsequent qualifications. Hardly any of the graphic disciplines I was taught in those halcyon University years bares any relevance to my present artwork anyway. What I have upheld along life's journey, is a belief that it is not so much the 'knowledge' that you aquire but an 'awareness' through live observation, the broadening of the senses, which is infintely more worth while.
