Self Portrait

Lee Ann began her creative expression at a very young age with music. She studied piano for over 13 years and flute for 8 years. She discovered a love for fiber arts, moving then to watercolor, garden design and rustic sculpture, and eventually to mosaics.

Her paintings and rustic sculptures are joyful expressions of nature. Her watercolor landscapes and florals express a deep resonance with the source of energy contained in all things. The rustic sculptures form themselves, from simple twigs and sticks into elegant expressions of natural beauty that seems to be inherent in the materials. The concept of taking perfectly good whole items (cloth, glass, landscapes, etc.), breaking them into myriad pieces, and reassembling them into something that becomes more than the sum of its parts makes a perfectly good metaphor for life. When the process is embraced fully, there is a deep sense of peace and tranquility in the work, which is just as important as the finished product.
