Janhendrik Dolsma graduated from Minerva Academy (the Netherlands) in 1973. He worked as an art teacher and for a number of years as a musician. In 1996 he started painting again and he makes a living as a professional painter since 2004.

For years he worked as a plein air painter, but today he is a regular studio painter, specializing in large scale seascapes.

Dolsma participated in numerous exhibitions, in- and outside of the Netherlands
