I felt compelled to enter a moment here on my blog to wish safety, Godspeed, and only the best to those in the wake of Hurricaine Gustav. To all those in transit, I wish you safe exit from the area. To all those who have homes & property in the area, I pray you come back to it intact. My prayers are with you, your family, pets, and loved ones. God Bless.....

Wonderful news for me! I will be showing at a great gallery here in Nashville for a charity benefit for Spay/Neuter clinics. Three pieces have been chosen to exhibit at the HA Gallery in November. More details coming soon!

Well, today I am cleaning and photo editing and uploading. Seems like a good combination. When I get exhausted from cleaning all my litter boxes (and today is DEEP cleaning)... I sit behind my computer and work on my photos. It always helps me see the big picture. I love my work with the animals and my photography. I feel I have reached a point in my life (who knows for how long) where I can be "peaceful" in a chaotic world & still talk to so many people all over the world who share similar visions, talents and interests. I hope to get out and actually shoot some new shots. I've been working on a backlog for awhile. I really want to capture some of Nashville's music downtown & its lovely countryside. And of course, continue my StarKitty collection which, I hope, brings a little fun and more love for all felines in this world and that!

Well, yesterday me and my 79 year old father participated in an actuall Jet Pilot Flight Simulation at the Sudekum Planetarium here in Nashville. We had to push the panic button! It really got the adreniline going though & I was able to foamboard one of my bigger pieces ... without much worry! I've never been good with hand crafts, I envy those who can quilt so beautifully or sew amazing garments... If I can learn to frame on my own though, it would save bookos of moola... that is an important issue these days! The Sudekum Planetarium is directed by a woman who is blind... she also directed the amazing film "Stars". She is a great inspiration to all who seek the "Stars" and I loved the program. If you are ever in the area, check it out... great for the kids too!

Wow oh wow is it hot here! We have a 90- 100 degree week to look forward to. I plan on staying in any area that has air conditioning only. So, I will be attempting to "foamboard" a larger piece today. I got a free yardstick from Ace Hardware, still one of the best shopping venues around & hopefully will be able to use my xacto edge properly! After looking at so many others portfolios, I am really happy to see great art being created and allowed space. The internet has liberated artists in many ways & I do appreciate these opportunities to really be able to immerse oneself in their art & not just sales and hobnobbing... although hobnobbing can be a lot of fun when it involves wine and cheese! Off to the workshop... peace & happy day to all!

Well, yesterday I attempted to back one of my prints with the self-adhesive foamboard. A word of warning; it really is SELF-ADHESIVE. It sticks to everything! I will be doing another larger piece today & know now - EVERYTHING must be prepared, clean, and ready! An extra human would be helpful too.

I managed to do the deed, but, I confess, I butchered it pretty badly. When you get close... it's evident a real amateur mounted this puppy. But, you have to start somewhere & from far away... all you see is the picture... and Merlyn's big eyes! He saves the day again.

I intend to take a trip to Paducah, KY shortly... want to see how it's renovation as an artist mecca is coming along. I think it'll do me good to get out of the big city and immerse myself in a town that has embraced the "Artist Incentive" program that helps bring quality artists to stay in certain town districts. A breath of fresh air. Ahhhhh.... have a wonderful day!

Had a lovely afternoon after uploading my Hummers... I love Hummingbirds - powerhouses of the universe. If only we could duplicate their natural energy, all this hoopla regarding peak oil and gas prices would simply go away! Enough art & politics for now. I got my hair chopped off (that's a lovely wig in my photo that I use when wanting to get "glammed" up by the way). I like the "Sharon Stone" look for everyday running about. After I did my beauty shop thing, I went to a new art gallery "Maggie Mays" in the Lenox Village here in Nashville. What a lovely shop & owner. He's from Bay St. Louis and told me how Katrina battered his old gallery, making repairs impossible. He features local artists and some fabulous pieces. Naturally I gave him my card! & of course, had to buy something... a lovely porceline night light featuring a wonderful forest with the sunlight streaming through! Good day, good folks!

Well today started frenetically... I get so many ideas in my dreams... actually the last two nights I dreamt I was famous! Two nights ago, somehow I became a luke-warm Marilyn Monroe... but got no respect... then last night I was running with Obama for VP - I think I was Hillary... running against us was Jack Nicholson & he played a great guitar! His devilish grin was right on! Sometimes I think I sleep too much...

In any case, I've been working on my photo illustrations and will upload two more today. I am clicking all over the place to get to know this site as well as I can... it's actually quite fun! My subjects (the 10 cats I live with) are all very amused at my intensity...

Good news, I'll have 3 pieces in a local art show at a Gallery yet to be named through our wonderful "Nashville Paw" (http://www.nashvillepaw.com) magazine. 50% of the proceeds will benefit a local Spay Neuter Clinic called "Fix for Life". (http://www.fixforlife.com). I'm honored to be part of this wonderful way to help the critters. Well, onto more web surfing... bye for now!

Thought to mention, the picture below is "The Human Tree" which I took this Spring here in Nashville, TN. I couldn't resist it's amazing human look!

Well, I'm going to try this! I've just signed up for ArtWanted & am very much enjoying this site. It is interesting and visually appealing for sure. I really do like the way they present the artwork. I'm looking forward to meeting more of the community. A little more about myself... I have many, many cats & one dog (Pepe) and take care of my dear ole dad as he progresses with his Alzhmeirers'. Everything seems hard at first, but since I've been doing this for almost 5 years now & with some of the new medicines, he's actually doing pretty darn good. I love animals & strongly support Spay/Neuter and Feral cat programs (Trap, Neuter, Release) of which I have been a part of for many years. Well, off to the soup I've been concocting for our dinner. Talk soon!
