RIP Gregg Allman (1947-2017) I've done an abstract portrait and collected his records for years. Favorites include "I'm No Angel" (1987); Eat a Peach (1972-73) Original Pressing; Allman Brothers Band at Philmore East (1971).

My Arboretum Intern Project photo-documenting the colorful fall trees in the Maple Collection for the National Arboretum database.

Real learning curve, since I know little about trees, have a lot to learn about using a Digital Camera and even more to master when following the upload and update features on the database website.

Here's a trial shot of the Maple Accession # 57772-H Acer Rubrum 'Red Rocket.'

Two months into the National Arboretum garden internship. Working under curators Lynn Batdorf in Boxwood and Barbara Bullock in Azalea collections.

Pretty hot out there in the sun.

I was selected as an intern (one of six) at the U.S. National Arboretum Gardens Unit working on "collections maintenance" of the famed Azalea and Boxwood Collections. Starting May 21 until November, my job title is Biological Science Technician of the Agriculture Research Service of the Department of Agriculture.

Also completed the requirements for the D.C. Master Gardener program.

Should be interesting.

The UDC Master Gardener spans the range of horticulture issues --- from Native Plants to Pruning and Composting. Have also signed on to volunteer at the National Park Service's cottage garden at the Old Stone House in Georgetown

I am also a candidate for a paid internship at the U.S. National Arboretum. Had my interview today before a five-person panel. Very intimidating. Would be a great opportunity, if I get it.

I brought in some photographs, including some taken during the National Cherry Blossom festival last spring. This year is the 100th anniversary, and the trees are already starting to bloom.

From dozens of photos taken at various old and new favorite spots on Martha's Vineyard, my recent favorite is "Onions," snapped at Blackwater Farm.

Presently volunteering at the horticulture center at Hillwood Estate and Gardens, the former home of Marjorie Merryweather Post, and working abstract drawings in pen and graphite.

I have been accepted into the UDC Master Gardener program. The certificate course consists of class work and 50 hours training as a volunteer intern on all aspects of gardening and horticulture. Wish me luck.

More favorite photos of Lucy Vincent Beach now available as postcards. The storms on the Vineyard have done great damage to the fragile cliffs. Someday they will be just a memory.

"Blue" is an experiment in strong color. So strong, that when it was photographed for display on this site, the Blue in the upper sections became Magenta. Tinkered a bit to get the color closer to the actual canvas.
