I'm a freelance illustrator living in Manchester in the UK. I've always loved the illustration from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. People criticize the time for its lack of subtley, but I think there's a real virtue in its excesses, and I'm a big fan of the hyperrealist artists of the period who could create extremely accurate yet fanciful images with real kick.

Although I paint digitally, I've developed a process which is very similar to that used by the pencil/gouache/airbrush artists of the time.
