Self Portrait

When I began college I was an art major.....but somehow my life got sidetracked and I went in a different direction until a few years ago when I rediscovered my passion for creative expression and my love of photography. Throughout my adult life I have loved photography and capturing nature and landscapes, and old historic buildings and farms. Nowadays, with most of my personal work, I do prints on special metallic print paper which is just so amazing and stunning. I am still learning every day the patience required to capture the shots I want. I have learned that sometimes it takes literally hundreds of shots to get just the right one. On a series I did entitled a "Sunrise on a Georgia Marsh" I literally spent days getting up at 4 AM and going to this location and shooting hundreds of photos to try to capture just the right sunrise, Finally one morning I had my sunrise and that's what makes it all worth while for me. There are days when I shoot four or five hundred shots in a day of various subjects and come away with maybe two or three shots that I really like. Patience and trial and error are the keys. I have found my passion for it all and enjoy every day when I can go out and just shoot whatever I feel like. I would also love to one day learn how to compose great portraits. I am self teaching myself Photoshop and love all the features and hope to one day be able to continue to express myself digitally with this media. I have much to learn and appreciate any and all comments.
