Portrait of Nira Dabush, Pastel, Done by the artist and poet : Jen Singleton.
2005. Title of artwork, by Jen.
I wrote at one of my posts in AW site :
"On March,8,06.- International woman's day,I came back home and found an envelope at my door.
It was that amazing portrait, Jennifer Singleton painted for me few months ago...... "..
It came all the way from Australia.
It was not only surprising to get it that day... but came on a perfect timing to encourage me..
I found it very significant with the events of that time, on that special day.
Later I hanged it on the wall at home... Each time, I clean the dust from the picture I remember and think of JEN.
I thanks again to wonderful Jen... I miss her, by the way... She left the site.
To remember what was AW once.... Real friendships between artists of the site
Thanks for visiting. Happy weekend to all!

Such a simultaneously accurate and beautifully real representation and yet so mysterious, otherworldly, spiritual! The augmented blue hues create much of that effect so smoothly, especially, I think, against the darker background curves and the main three anointing lights. These encircling darker blues, thus, enfold lighter, subtle blends of lavender-greenish roses, hair, and her left shoulder: that is, the whole bottom two-thirds of the painting, and all of the lady. These two circles emphasize and softly forefront the face, creating the painting's marvelous depth. Interestingly, I think that that the numerous items of jewelry, no matter how precious themselves, could easily be overlooked at first, perhaps, in such gorgeous flowing hair. The "jewel" of this excellent painting, of course, is the smooth, classically perfect face. I think it masterfully and beautifully depicts a person who is serious and thoughtful, as well as determined, yet softly human and empathetic. Peace, etc., Bruce CombsJoanie Holliday 08 Mar 2014
