This is a colored pencil painting that I did based on a reference photo that I took while driving on a rainy afternoon. I was stopped at this intersection and the scene that I saw out the front window of my car was intriguing. To roughly quote the artist Jaye Schlesinger, this was "an unintended still life in a common place". I began to wonder if I could capture in a colored pencil piece what I was actually seeing out my window. Here is the result of my efforts. The piece is titled "Collins Road in the Rain". The piece is done on matte surfaced Dura-lar polyester film using Farber-Castell Polychromos pencils along with some Prismacolor Premier pencils. The size of the piece is approximately 13 X 22 inches. I find such pieces as this very interesting and challenging. I plan to continue working on such works in hopes of making them every more appealing to viewers. Enjoy and always keep your eye open for "the unintended still life in a common place".
