Standing in nature watching these gorgeous big birds relax as the sun set inspired this artwork. Although some photographs were referenced from a beach trip with lava black rock, residents in Canberra are lucky to observe these birds inland as well at the local Lakes. Mildred and George are two local residents that live in the nearby nature reserve and are ambassadors to show visitors how to gulp down fish. I added speckles of white to illustrate water spray on this artwork too- a technique that I was experimenting with at the time of painting. I like the serenity and quiet colors of this pelican picture. I am confused about the "spray" and how much is photo and how much is painting with a medium.Kevin Smith 07 Dec 2019
Beautifully compiled and rendered. Well done.
