I think if a person can write down his actions of one day and have those self-same actions occur many days hence in much the same order, that would be classified as monotony. There is busy monotony which moves along at a pace that doesn't give one much time to contemplate the drudgery and there is non-busy monotony in which a person has too much time to think about things. Unfortunately, most retired folks fall into the second category. Of course, I've noticed, not everyone is contemplative. I like the rather bewildered look , perhaps the realization of "gee I'm doing the same things everyday" . I deem monotony as something in my control especially now that I'm retired. Strawberries instead of blueberries in my oatmeal and today I think i'll shower in the backyard with the hose, slap my belly and have a shot of vodka . lol ... Very interesting,but he doesn't look bored,yah ,the same Old every day in Routine,,,,now retired from Tax dept.shuffling papers,,,,put the drip coffee on,at 6am every morning,go out on the deck,view the mountains,Check on my Bee Hives,come in have breakfast,wife's got the eggs happening,I get the toast going,,,another coffee,,then we are ready for the day,,,,,,,,yah,the mornings are fairly monotinous,,but the rest of the day,well where does it go,,,,,,,
