Merano or Meran on the south side of the Alps is located in a deep valley with peaks from 1500 m to 3000 m and belongs to the South Tyrol region of Italy. Until before the First World War, this region belonged to Austria, but afterwards it fell into Italian hands. The many attempts to give this city an Italian character proved in vain. Today the city still looks Austrian. The entire region is bilingual: Italian and German, but German is still largely the official language. Image size: 260 x 360 mm.
