Spiny orb weaver. G.cancriformis

Non-venomous. Really a beauty. I need a macro lens as you can tell by this and the scorpion shot. Enlarged, cropped, and resized.

I've been watching one of these outside my lanai in Sarasota, FL. It is the most interesting spider I've ever seen and it is fascinating to watch it spin its web.

Interesting macro shot of the spider. I looked at it upside down and it looked like the spider was tight-rope walking.
