This is a watercolor painted back in 1974. My style at the time was inspired by an artist by the name of Frank Hamilton. The artwork was sold to a private collector, however, the Artist retains licensing rights for this title.

Holy cow, John...this is close to a modern american masterpiece!!! The starkness of the white trees against the darker treeline ios sublime!!!

Artist Reply: well thats a bit more than I was after when I painted this study...but thanks for the thought. At the time, I was struggling with the concept of painting every single board, every single tree in the landscape. My mentors were Andrew and Jamie...Wyeth. So thats where I began to seek guidance. I have all their books and poured over their work in libraries and exhibitions.

Is that a weak bit of sunlight I can see shining on the barn? That winter sky and weak sunlight breaking through the clouds is so familiar to me. That's something I am already finding about your work: I can relate to the light. I have seen it myself many times and loved it. Well captured!

Yes, it resembles Frank Hamilton's work. I should know since I own several of his!
