red scarf

This is another failed background experiment. I painted the figure over the top, fast and loose with white paint. It forces me out of the photo-surreal precision that I lean toward. It's like sculpting in a way, building the image layer by layer.

Failed? It's an experiment gone perfectly right! I LOVE this one!!!

Great picture, I think the background works with the girl, and I like the fastness/or getting away from the precision of realism, so the only thing I notice is the scarf is so detailed compared to the rest - it distracts some because it is so well done!

Geri I would never put this fantastic work and failed in the same sentence, what a great idea letting the backround bleed into the main body, so many times I see a figure blending into the backround, its nice to see this style of the backround blendig forward with the layers of negative space left open and incorporated into the girls dress

HEH!! It is beautful and the painting in whole works wonderfully.

sweet work Geri, great textures and color linking figure ground

A striking presence with a pleasantly naive air about it.
