New York Fantasy

This picture is another in the Art Nouveau/Deco series. I've borrowed the figure and pose from a painting by American artist, William Strang. The face is a friend of mine painted from life and the background is from my imagination. In keeping with my long standing obssession I have posed the figure against a brightly lit window. In spite of her pretty party dress she is stiff and unrelaxed. Waiting! Outside the open window the beautiful Chrysler building rises up above the clouds. A typical symbol of the Art Deco period. Oil on canvas 18 x 24

Love this era-- so full of activity ...a lot of vanity...but still it rocked and was not stagnant. Your work is brilliant and beautiful--fulfilling all the attributes of both without sacrificing the charm and reality of either.

Artist Reply: Thank you for your very profound remarks about New York Fantasy Elton. I appreciate it!
