De Schuilplaats, (The Shelter or The hiding Place ) is my latest self-portrait, it had to be finished before the exhibition "Who am I if nobody looks" (Wie ben ik als niemand kijkt?), in the Carmelite Monastery (Karmelklooster) in Drachten (Netherlands). The inspiration came from my walk on the 'Way of Saint James' in France in May and June this year. When I came back I got the invitation to be part in this group exhibition of figurative and realistic painters, who all had to commit a self portrait.
