This is an image of wild Parrots that live in San Francisco in and around the Telegraph Hill area.. In summer they disperse throughout the bay area but in winter they tend to congergate near this area.. There is a wonderful book and DVD out about these parrots that have become fairly famous in S.F...There are about 140 of them ..They are Cherry Headed Conures and a couple blue headed Conures. They were apparently started from a few captive parrots that either escaped or were released by previous owners and over about a 13 year period they have now turned into a flock of wild conures ...If interested in more information about them you can go to this wonderful site about them and the man who documented them in his book and video.. http://www.pelicanmedia.org/wildparrots.html

Reminds me of my stay back in India... we have two big trees in our yard and parrots are the most commonly found birds there. Very noisy and messy birds..lol...but i love them. This photo is adorable!Cher Peterson 05 Dec 2005
What an interesting natural history that escaped tropical species can exist in such a cold climate. These guys all seem to be the same breed. Are they having and raising families?Renata Cavanaugh 05 Dec 2005
